Current snow accumulation nyc7/30/2023 ![]() By Wednesday morning, a few areas of light snow will be possible across central Arkansas, however, temperatures look to be too warm to support any major accumulations of impacts. Temperatures are expected to continue to drop Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, setting the stage for more snowfall mainly in northwest and northcentral Arkansas. As temperatures start to cool throughout the day on Tuesday, a changeover from rain to snow is expected in northwest Arkansas and the higher elevation areas. TIMING: A cold rain is expected to move into the state from the west by late morning/ early afternoon on Tuesday. Around 1″-3″ of snow could fall within the advisory and travel could become hazardous. The Winter Weather Advisory includes: Batesville, Heber Springs, Center Ridge, Russellville, Morrilton, De Queen, Danville and Clarksville. If you have not prepared accordingly for the the winter weather already, the deadline to do so in Tuesday morning. Travel will be dangerous for these areas. Mena, Waldron, Booneville, Paris, Harrison, Mountain Home, Mountain View, Jasper, Harrison and all of northwest Arkansas are under the Winter Storm Warning. Areas highlighted in white are under Winter Storm Warning, while purple is the winter weather advisory. The Ouachitas could also pick up a couple inches. Northwest and north central Arkansas will see the largest amounts of snow, particularly over the Ozark and Boston Mountains with the highest elevations getting up to a foot of snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the bordering counties. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from noon Tuesday through 6am Wednesday for portions of northwest, west central and north central Arkansas. Some in Arkansas will see snow falling on Tuesday and Wednesday, and these snowfall totals could start to add up. – Winter has returned to Arkansas after a very mild start to the month.
